The scope of influence of the Khmer civilization extended within the borders of present-day Thailand, at times reaching almost as far as the Burmese border.  The Northeast of Thailand is particularly rich in Khmer architectural remnants.  The galleries that follow contain images relating to the structure and decoration of a number of Khmer temples which we have visited, and also of the Si Khiu sandstone quarry, which furnished building materials for a number of Khmer sites.  For further information on the sites shown in these galleries, see
